How to Reduce an Even Number of Teams in BLS-2027

If you want to have fewer teams in your league, the best way is to swap the leaving teams with teams that are staying, so the leaving teams end up at the bottom of the list. Then you remove the teams at the bottom. A swap means two teams trade places. This keeps the changes to your other teams’ team numbers as small as possible.

IMPORTANT: Before you start, make sure you are in the correct week.

You need to be in the week where the new number of teams begins. Do not make these changes while you are in the last week that was bowled with the old number of teams. For example, if your league bowled week 5 with 10 teams, and you want 8 teams starting in week 6, go to week 6 first. Making the changes in week 5 would change the teams for a week that was already bowled.

Also, please do not just slide teams up the list. Sliding a team up changes the team number of every team in between. Swapping only changes the teams you swap.

Step 1: Swap the leaving teams to the bottom of the list

  1. Click Utilities, then Teams, then Reorder Teams.
  2. Swap each leaving team with a staying team from the bottom of the list. Here is an example. Say you have 10 teams, and Teams 3 and 4 are leaving:
    • Swap Team 3 and Team 9. Team 9 moves into Team 3’s spot, and Team 3 moves to Team 9’s spot.
    • Swap Team 4 and Team 10. Team 10 moves into Team 4’s spot, and Team 4 moves to Team 10’s spot.
    • Only 4 teams change numbers. The other 6 teams stay the same.
  3. If a leaving team is already at the bottom of the list, leave it right where it is. That is less work for you. For example, say you have 10 teams, and Teams 4 and 10 are leaving. Team 10 is already at the bottom, so leave it alone. Just swap Team 4 and Team 9.
  4. Click the green check mark to save your changes.

Step 2: Remove the teams

  1. Click Utilities, then Teams, then Remove Teams.
  2. Find the box called “Indicate Teams to Remove.”
  3. Click the very last team in the list, then click the Delete Team button.
  4. Click the next-to-last team in the list, then click the Delete Team button.
  5. Click the Do It! button.

Step 3: Answer the questions on the screen

  1. A box will pop up asking if you are sure. This is your last chance to stop. If you are sure, continue.
  2. A few more boxes will tell you that your schedule and lane assignments have changed. They will also ask if you want to reorder the teams. You already did that in Step 1, so just click the Do It! button.

Step 4: Check your schedule

Look over your schedule, including the Position Rounds, to make sure everything looks right.

Doing the steps in this order, and in the correct week, keeps your team numbers and your schedule as close to the way they were as possible.
